All of our medical doctors are board certified ophthalmologists with extensive experience in all areas of ophthalmic medicine.Position SummaryThe Surgery Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures to ensure timely, efficient, and accurate utilization of operating room resources, surgeon availability, and optimal patient care.ResponsibilitiesSchedules surgical procedures based on surgeon availability, operating room capacity, and facility guidelines.Accurately enters and updates surgical case information in scheduling systems and electronic health records.Manages schedule changes related to cancellations, postponements, or urgent add-on cases.Verifies required documentation prior to scheduling (e.g. surgeon orders, case details, preference cards as applicable).Verifies patient insurance coverage and ensures all required referrals and documentation are completed prior to scheduling.Obtain necessary prior authorizations for surgical procedures as needed.Communicates finalized schedules and updates to the surgeons, nursing staff, anesthesia, and ancillary departments.Identifies and resolves scheduling conflicts to optimize workflow and efficiency.Provides patients with basic logistical information such as surgery date, time, and location assigned.Answers phone and responds to inquiries.Interacts with all internal and external customers in a caring and respectful manner.Ensures compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality standards, and organizational policies.Assists with reports or audits related to operating room utilization and scheduling efficiency, as requested.Contributes to the team effort by completing additional tasks or projects as directed.Attends daily huddles and regularly scheduled team meetings.Attends Ambulatory Surgery Center meetings as requested and approved by management.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalentExperience as a Surgical Scheduler or Patient Access Representative preferredOphthalmology experience preferredExperience with EHR software; NexTech/Intellechart Pro experience strongly preferredKnowledge of contracted insurance plans and proceduresAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentMust have ability to travel to all practice locations as necessary Key Skills Strong interpersonal and communication skillsAttention to detail for accurate data entry, strong organizational skillsBasic understanding of healthcare insurance payors and programsAbility to multitask in a fast-paced environmentFamiliarity with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, privacy laws, etc.)Excellent customer service skillsCompany BenefitsWe offer a competitive benefits package to our employees:MedicalDentalVision401k w/ MatchHSA/FSATelemedicineGenerous PTO PackageWe also offer the following benefits for FREE:Employee Discounts and PerksEmployee Assistance ProgramGroup Life/AD&DShort Term Disability InsuranceLong Term Disability InsuranceEyeSouth Partners is an equal opportunity employer.
